This position is based throughout Massachusetts (and surrounding states). Preference will be given to candidates who live in or are geographically close to Massachusetts. Facilitators will be required to deliver trainings and/or conduct classroom observations in-person at various locations across Massachusetts. Virtual onboarding and facilitation preparation will be provided.

TNTP is facilitating training for PreK–12 grade teachers and educational assistants to better understand key aspects of effective literacy instruction and conducting observations of instruction across the Commonwealth.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
In this part-time role, facilitators will lead in-person trainings for cohorts of up to 30 educators to deepen their understanding of key aspects of effective literacy instruction. Trainings will take place across Massachusetts (with some opportunities in nearby states). Subject to change, trainings will begin in November 2025 and run through the end of June 2026. Part-time Senior Managers will also conduct follow-up classroom observations in PK-Grade 12 classrooms using a Literacy Observation Tool. Training on the tool will be provided.
Training topics are customized to district or school need, and topics may include: understanding the science of reading, exploring the progression of language development, understanding how to effectively implement high-quality instructional materials, how to scaffold and support multilingual learners and students with learning and thinking differences, etc. TNTP also facilitates training for instructional leaders and coaches and provided job-embedded support.
Specific responsibilities include:
Complete synchronous and asynchronous virtual facilitation preparation program with TNTP staff members to be prepared to effectively facilitate in-person trainings (including work to understand MA context and priorities, project-specific context and priorities, district’s high-quality instructional materials, etc.)
Prepare for and facilitate engaging, impactful in-person trainings using TNTP designed materials
Ensure participants make meaningful and lasting changes to their approach and practice by building their understanding of key aspects of strong early literacy instruction
Create conditions for participating teachers to feel comfortable taking risks and trying things that make them feel uncomfortable
Provide meaningful feedback to participants throughout the day that helps them change their mindsets and practice
Conduct follow-up classroom observations in PK-Grade 12 classrooms using a Literacy Observation Tool. Training on the tool will be provided

Qualifications
TNTP Facilitators are experienced educators who have a demonstrated track record of success with early literacy or related instruction or have advanced degrees in early childhood education, reading and training and/or certifications from accredited and reputable organizations (i.e. LETERs, Orton Gillingham). Trainers are deeply knowledgeable about using a sounds-first approach focused on oral language to develop early reading skills. Facilitators hold high expectations for what students and teachers are capable of and have strong organizational and communication skills. Ideal candidates will also have:
A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience, pre-K-3 teaching experience preferred
Experience with one or more of the following curriculum products is preferred: Wit and Wisdom, CKLA, HMH Into Reading, HMH Into Literature, myView, EL/Expeditionary Learning, FUNdations, StudySync, Amplify ELA, Wonders 2020, O’Dell, ARC Core, Benchmark Advance, Fishtank, myPerspectives, Three Cheers, Focus, Frog Street, Letterland, Heggerty, Creative Curriculum
Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire students and adults
Experience in facilitating effective in-person training experiences for adult learners
Demonstrated ability to connect with adult learners quickly and to build strong working and mentoring relationships
Exceptional skills in time management, including the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
A positive outlook, flexibility, and sense of possibility in stressful situations
Evidence of working successfully in teams or cooperative settings
Time Frame
Facilitation is needed throughout the school year and in the summer, including weekdays and occasional weekends. Classroom observations will be conducted during the following windows:
October 13 - November 7
January 12 – February 6
April 13 - April 17
April 27 – May 15

TNTP offers a competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience in a similar position. The pay rate for this position is $60 per hour.
