WHAT YOU’LL DO
For TFA Connecticut to reach its 2030 goal of twice as many children in the communities we serve will reach key educational milestones indicating they are on a path to economic mobility and cocreating a future filled with possibilities, we will need to work in coalition with others and have deep partnerships with mission aligned people, schools, districts, and organizations, both locally and statewide. The focus of this role is to build and sustain partnerships with various constituents. The ideal candidate will have existing relationships and have worked in the communities we serve – Bridgeport, Hartford, New Haven, and Waterbury – or have experience working in similar communities.
You must be passionate about wanting to address the inequitable educational system in Connecticut to ensure all children have a high-quality educational experience that will set them up for postsecondary success and a promising future. You will be responsible for setting vision and direction for our alumni leadership development strategy, school strategy across the region, and building and managing alliances/partnerships with organizations, institutions, and individuals who share a commitment to our mission.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Below is an estimate of how you will spend your time:
Alumni Engagement (30%)
Engage and galvanize the commitment, expertise, and leadership of the alumni network to accelerate progress toward Teach For America Connecticut’s 2030 goal
Partnerships (20%)
Deepen relationships with existing district and community partners and explore new relationships and partners as needed
Ignite Fellowship (30%)
Work with our Ignite national team, local districts, and school partners to support the proper implementation of the Ignite high dosage tutoring model locally and statewide
Develop and implement cultivation efforts to expand Ignite to new school partners, growing the fellowship in 2030 footprint schools
Recruitment (10%)
Execute local recruitment activities, including prospect/campus campaign support of recruitment campaign, and network engagement
Contracts (10%)
Create and finalize contracts with all partners, including data sharing agreements
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
Over the course of any week, the MD, Partnerships will spend time collaborating with the regional team in Teach For America’s office in New Haven. You are expected to be cultivating new partnerships and deepening existing partnerships across the state with alumni and partners to support our work, most acutely, our work aligned with the 2030 goal. You should be meeting and checking in on the work in our 2030 goal footprint schools by collaborating directly with the school leadership, Ignite school-based trainers, classroom teachers, and students. Partnership cultivation and collaboration involve frequent attendance at engagements beyond traditional workday hours.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree
A minimum of 7-10 years working in coalition with others and establishing partnerships with community organizations
A minimum of 7-10 years of work experience in school leadership
Work demands
Some evenings and weekends required
Ability to travel to in-person meetings throughout Connecticut and to other states as needed
This role requires the candidate to be based in Connecticut to support in-person collaboration and regional responsibilities

THE TEAM
The Managing Director, Partnerships, will work on a small team of people committed to educational excellence and making a difference in the lives of children and communities in Connecticut.
YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost-of-labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the minimum and the salary range midpoint, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary range for this role is set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Tier B: $98,100- $131,000
