ROLE TITLE: Manager, Incoming Corps Member Experience
POSITION REPORTS TO: Lauren Voelker, Managing Director, Partnership Operations

LOCATION: New York Region; The role is hybrid and needs to be in the New York area (reasonable commutable distance), but will not be expected to be in-person 100% of the time.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As the Manager, Incoming Corps Member Experience, you will be responsible for building the first critical and enduring relationship with our incoming New York City corps members. The goal is to ensure they have strong and positive initial experiences with the TFA program. You will envision and execute on all communications with incoming corps members and will track their progress in getting ready to fully join our program in the summer months. From the moment they receive their offer to join our corps, you will ensure that all incoming corps members are eligible to teach by the first day of school, feel supported throughout the onboarding process, and are fired up to join the New York Corps.
Through management and execution of regional strategies, you impact corps culture and retention, alumni engagement, and overall community building – all in support of our regional vision of excellence for our teachers, schools, and communities. You will also be responsible for supporting current corps members to complete the necessary actions to remain in good standing with TFA, their partner school, and their graduate school program. This includes survey collection, certification updates, and communications regarding TFA NY events.
The ideal candidate for this role will value and enjoy the challenge of building relationships with individuals from all walks of life and thinking critically about finding opportunities to support incoming corps members within our process and protocol. You have an ability to anticipate problems, excel at crafting inspiring and compelling written messages, and bring empathy and care for our incoming corps members.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Incoming Corps Member Engagement (40%):
Execute upon regional strategy for incoming corps members to build community and clarity of regional offer to matriculate into the NY corps, including the management of various complex systems for communication (One App, Zoom, Slack, Salesforce Communications Cloud, etc.)
Execute a robust corps member onboarding program that communicates our regional vision and expectations and maximizes the time between when a corps member confirms their acceptance to the corps and when they begin summer training.
Manage and update data systems (trackers, etc.) in partnership with Regional Impact team members. Tracking required action items that corps members must complete during the onboarding process and notifying corps members of their standing within TFA NY’s policies and procedures.
Oversee graduate school enrollment to ensure all corps members are enrolled with our graduate school partners to obtain certification.
Support, coach, and retain incoming corps members during the onboarding phase of their commitment to ensure they are the most successful they can be in front of kids come the first day of school.
Develop incoming corps members' knowledge, skills, and mindsets about what it takes to be a transformational teacher and leader (In conjunction with the Regional Impact team).

Written and Verbal Communications (25%):
Write clear and compelling communications and guidance for incoming corps members that inspire them to action and ensure they successfully navigate their pre-service commitment.
Manage general regional email inbox by responding to incoming corps member inquiries consistently and with vigor.
Manage communication scope and sequence for incoming corps members across lines of onboarding (hiring, graduate school, certification, etc.).
Execute survey campaign strategies to ensure we receive feedback from corps members throughout their two-year commitment.
Ensure corps members are knowledgeable about their corps status during their two-year commitment.
Create and execute the disbursal of monthly corps member newsletters.

Summer Training (20%):
Support incoming corps members during their summer training, which includes virtual sessions and 4 weeks of in-person teaching practice.
Support retention of incoming corps members during this phase of their commitment to ensure they are the most successful they can be in front of kids, come the first day of school.
Support regional operations of successful summer intensive, including ordering supplies/curriculum, execution of staff surveys, data analysis, attendance tracking, etc.

Incoming Corps Member Events + All Staff Expectations (15%)
Create and deliver virtual and in-person engagements to invest incoming corps members in TFA's mission and core values, TFA NY regional vision and goals, and ensure they understand what it means to be part of TFA as well as a NYC teacher.
Plan and manage operations for incoming corps member events throughout the year, including but not limited to attendance, registration, coordinating room reservations, etc.
Analyze and elevate trends among our incoming corps member cohort to inform the direction of programming needs.
Serve as liaison to incoming corps members during regional events focused on in-service corps or alumni to create connection and camaraderie across incoming corps member groups.
Participate in all-staff (region and organization-wide) activities and events, including interviewing corps members, attending regional and organization-wide team meetings and retreats, and volunteering to support projects outside your scope of work.
A WEEK IN THE LIFE
Over the course of any week, the Manager, Incoming Corps Member Experience will spend time:
Meeting with Regional Impact team members, such as our Managing Director, Partnership Operations and Managing Director, Matriculation Generalist, to align on progress across incoming corps member engagement goals.
Close collaboration with the Manager, Corps Member Hiring to ensure corps members have a smooth onboarding experience and a clear understanding of their responsibilities, action items, and progress in our program.
Planning and facilitating webinars or meetings with incoming corps members. Presenting to incoming corps members on topics such as certification, your teaching experience, graduate school, housing in NYC, or other needs raised by the incoming corps.
Discussing incoming corps member trends with Regional Team members and our leadership coaches.
Contributing to ongoing regional meetings discussing topics relevant to our onboarding and matriculation goals.
Answering emails in the regional inbox and flagging concerns to the larger Regional Impact team.
Preparing for events with incoming corps members, corps members, and/or alums.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Prior Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience
Work Demands: Some evening work required
Skills:
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities at the same time, including creating strong project plans and executing them effectively
Ability to translate feedback and other data points into actionable solutions and plans
Demonstrated ability to effectively and consistently track tasks to meet goals, communicate progress to others, and follow through with execution plans
Experience as a TFA corps member or teacher
BONUS (preferred qualifications)
Understanding of the TFA NY regional context
Experience in events, operations, or recruitment
Building relationships and/or people management skills

Experience using mail merge, spreadsheet formulas, SalesForce, a plus.

This role is a part of the Regional Impact team, which partners closely with the Connecticut-NYC Program Hub to ensure coherence across the corps member experience in New York. You will work hand-in-hand with our New York regional team across all major components of our regional vision and commitment to our 2030 goals across the corps and alumni continuum.
YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Tier C Range: $68,200-$87,800
