The high level:
Reading Partners uses Salesforce to collect data about program implementation and impact, stakeholder engagement, and fundraising. Our Salesforce instance is instrumental to the daily operations of essentially every functional team at Reading Partners. The Senior Salesforce Administrator will be a member of the Information Technology (IT) team. The position is both tactical and strategic, responsible for administering, configuring, developing and supporting Salesforce and associated systems and tools, as well as advancing our strategic use of Salesforce as a business critical system.
Given the cross-functional and complex nature of our Salesforce instance, the individual serving in this position will collaborate regularly with staff across multiple functional departments. They will apply Salesforce best practices to troubleshoot and work with end users to ensure that applications meet their needs, while keeping pace with changes in program operations, policies, and/or procedures that may require system or application changes.
The ideal candidate is someone who has prior experience leading complex Salesforce instances that use multiple products and apps on the Salesforce platform, with multiple integrations, and 300+ advanced users. They can define priorities and manage a platform roadmap, understand customer support, have the intellectual curiosity to learn and apply new skills, seek to develop professionally, and have the grit to roll up their sleeves to tackle any issue thrown their way.
This position is remote, and hires (upon start date) should reside within states where Reading Partners operates, which include: California, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Washington State, and Virginia.
What you’ll do:
Manage Reading Partners Salesforce platform roadmap to meet the organization’s strategic and operational goals.
- Manage a Salesforce roadmap that is aligned to other critical business processes and needs.
- Analyze business processes and perform systems architecture based on analysis results, best practices, and sound judgment.
- Establish and lead processes to gather user requirements, identify alternate systems approaches, and develop recommendations for system improvements.
- Guide organizational teams toward proven best practices, intelligent system designs and integrations, and meaningful data management and analysis.
- Stay current with Salesforce releases and corresponding documentation and provide new functionality and solutions as needed, including integration with third party solutions.
Own Salesforce platform administration and user support.
- Manage and supervise the Associate Salesforce Administrator to support administrative functions, such as creation and management of user accounts, profiles, roles, permissions, sharing rules, licenses, capacity and storage management.
- Establish, implement, and oversee best practices with regards to system maintenance, security, release management, improvements, data integrity, duplicates, backups, etc.
- Oversee data de-duplication and cleanup procedures.
- Manage and monitor backups, licensing, and general maintenance of supported systems.
- Oversee service desk ticketing system and support requests for Salesforce-related tickets.
- Collaborate with department leads to create and support the development of general and function-specific training material.
Lead the development and implementation of new features and updated functionality in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
- Lead data, business, and information system projects with Salesforce.
- Develop and implement solutions aligned with business needs and activities.
- Lead the implementation and on-going management of third party systems integrated with or connected to Salesforce.
- Maintain, revise, and enhance custom object relationships and formulas, as well as standard and custom fields, in response to business needs.
- Oversee documentation related to instance configuration and deployment of applications (e.g. project plans and change item documents).
- Develop and manage relationships with outside consultants and vendors that provide additional support and services for Reading Partners systems.
Lead and manage all system integrations
- Lead on all system integrations with Salesforce, including design, development, testing, and deployment, while ensuring optimal system performance, scalability, security, and data accuracy.
- Leverage expertise to integrate and streamline business processes across multiple systems, manage complex data mapping and transformation, and troubleshoot issues with third-party APIs.

Technical Expertise & Project Management:
- Demonstrate a technical savvy to manage the Salesforce platform across the entire organization. Manage multiple competing priorities and projects, and re-prioritize when needed. Balance the needs of regions with national strategic priorities and operational resources. Remain adaptable, flexible, and collaborative while navigating complex problems and varying needs. Anticipate challenges and/or questions and proactively act to address them. Demonstrate an ability to also make quick, sound decisions, when needed, that consider all stakeholders.
Leadership & Management:
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in coaching, inspiring, and developing emerging professionals toward goals. Demonstrate an ability to provide clear guidance and set goals, delegate, and provide growth opportunities while supporting progress along the way.
Bonus points if you:
- Have led a Salesforce org with 300 or more active users
- Have administered a Salesforce org integrated with NPSP, Apsona, Classy, Formstack, FormAssembly, Volunteers for Salesforce, and Act-On
- Have administered a Salesforce org in another non-profit using the Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)
- Hold additional Salesforce certifications, such as Platform App Builder, Sales Cloud Consultant, or Advanced Administrator
- Are an AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, or other national service alum

We aim to set salaries based on objective, external, high-quality market data. Our salaries are adjusted for candidates in different geographic regions. We do our very best to ensure that we’re bringing our best offer - therefore we do not engage in salary negotiations.
- This is a full-time, exempt, and salaried position. The pay range for this position is $109,613 - $128,956 per year and is contingent on geographic location. After applying, candidates who move forward in the hiring process are provided with the salary for their geographical location.

The other things you need to know:
- This role is remote-based. Candidates must reside in locations where Reading Partners operates.
- Typical Physical & Mental Demands: Requires prolonged sitting with some bending, stooping, and stretching, and eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to communicate with volunteers and staff. Also requires flexibility to readily adapt to a changing environment.

Qualifications
About you:
You’ll be successful in this role if you have:
- 5-7+ years of Salesforce administration experience
- Held and maintained an active Salesforce Certified Administrator credential for 3-5+ years
- Experience in software and database design, development, and testing
- An ability to function in multiple product, software, and business contexts simultaneously
- Proven experience with complex software integrations (e.g., field mappings, data validation, project scoping)
- Experience leading enterprise change management processes, including release management processes, quality assurance and testing, and sandbox creation, refreshes, and changesets
- Thorough knowledge of the Salesforce data model and understanding of how to leverage Salesforce to meet complex process and reporting requirements
- Experience with turning product requirements, use cases, and user stories into new or enhanced features and functions for platforms/products
- Concrete experience with using workflow rules, process builder, and flows to facilitate and improve user experience, data management, and data integrity
- Experience minimizing and preventing the accumulation of technical debt in systems
- Strong experience managing projects with wide stakeholder base
- Willingness to work on significant project work in addition to support tasks
- Solid understanding of vendor management, negotiations, budgeting, and lifecycle planning
