Accounting Assistant 1 - This position will work directly with the Project Accountant. The position is in-office (Tallahassee, FL). The PCG PPM Project ID for the project is P0054201

Overall Responsibilities:

PCG seeks a highly motivated, goal-driven Accounting Assistant for a project with the FL Department of Children and Families. The primary role of the Accounting Assistant will be payment processing, collections, and accounting functions related to the recovery of improperly paid public assistance benefits from inactive clients. The position will be an in-office position within the Tallahassee, FL office.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Perform entry-level bookkeeping and accounting tasks.
  • Post journal or voucher entries to state billing systems
  • Reconcile customer accounts and project bank deposits
  • Verify, sort, and post paper and electronic payments
  • Perform customer service via phone related to customer payments and other transactions
  • Accurately record and track data related to collections functions.
  • Manage daily accounting workflow to ensure contract deliverables are met
  • Manage refund transactions
  • Communicate daily with FL DCF accounting team and other client representatives
  • Ability to work M-F, 8AM-5PM ET in office

Required Skills:

  • Excellent data-entry accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures of SNAP, TANF or Benefit Recovery programs a plus.
  • Previous experience processing cash or online payments a plus.

Required Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required. College Degree Preferred; or equivalent work experience
  • 1+ year of prior experience in accounting

As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $40,300-$53,500 In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role.
