As the organization expands its programming—including initiatives such as Vitality and Powered by Pahara—Pahara is seeking a Vice President of Marketing & Communications to elevate its voice, strengthen its storytelling, and connect more leaders to its work.
Position Overview
The Vice President of Marketing & Communications leads the development and execution of Pahara Institute at Lone Rock’s marketing, brand, and communications strategy. This role ensures the organization’s mission, programs, and fellows are communicated clearly and compellingly to leaders across the education sector.
The VP will oversee storytelling, digital communications, brand management, and marketing efforts that support program recruitment, community engagement, thought leadership, and visibility for the organization’s growing portfolio of leadership experiences.
This role reports to the Executive Vice President of Growth & Operations and works closely with the President/CEO and senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Brand Leadership
- Develop and execute an integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with organizational priorities and program growth.
- Steward and evolve the Pahara Institute brand, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
- Translate organizational priorities into compelling messaging that resonates with education leaders and partners.
Storytelling & Content Development
- Elevate the stories and impact of Pahara fellows and programs through written, digital, and multimedia content.
- Oversee development of newsletters, announcements, publications, reports, and program communications.
- Build an editorial strategy that highlights leadership, innovation, and impact across the Pahara community.
Marketing for Programs & Convenings
- Design and implement marketing strategies that support recruitment and enrollment across Pahara programs, including new offerings such as Vitality and Powered by Pahara.
- Partner with program teams to ensure effective communication with fellows and prospective participants.
- Support visibility and engagement for convenings and retreats hosted at the Lone Rock Retreat Center.
Digital Strategy & Communications Platforms
- Oversee Pahara’s digital presence, including website, social media, and email communications.
- Ensure the organization’s digital platforms effectively support storytelling, engagement, and program visibility.
- Use analytics and audience insights to continuously refine messaging and strategy.
Organizational Communications
- Support internal and external communications around major organizational initiatives, announcements, and milestones.
- Develop messaging frameworks that ensure clarity and alignment across teams.
- Partner with leadership to support strategic communications and thought leadership opportunities.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage and develop the marketing and communications team.
- Partner closely with program, development, and operations teams to ensure messaging supports organizational priorities.
- Build systems and processes that enable high-quality communications across the organization.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 15+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or brand strategy.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated communications strategies.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Experience managing communications channels including digital platforms, newsletters, and social media.
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in education, leadership development, or mission-driven organizations.
- Experience marketing programs, convenings, or community-based initiatives.
- Familiarity with analytics tools and data-informed communications strategies.

Additional Details
- Reporting Relationships: The VP of Marketing & Communications reports to the Executive Vice President of Growth & Operation
- Work Environment: We are a hybrid organization and this role is a remote position by design so that the team can work where they have built their lives. Lone Rock, our campus in the Denver area, serves as a hub for our work and as the main location for all in-person events.
- Travel: This position will require travel to Lone Rock Campus for various purposes, including organizational meetings and events, operations support during programming, and other job-specific purposes. When at Lone Rock, you must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time at a higher altitude while on campus and occasionally move boxes weighing up to 30 pounds for various needs. Seminar days often begin early and end late, so you should be able to commit to an unconventional schedule when participating in programming, as opposed to a 9am - 5pm schedule.
- Compensation: Pahara Institute at Lone Rock provides competitive compensation and an attractive benefits package, including full health care coverage and access to a 401(k) account with a matching contribution policy. The salary band for this role is $180,000 - $200,000.
