WHAT YOU’LL DO:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced senior leader who is a nationally recognized expert in the Science of Reading. This individual will lead strategic initiatives, advise clients, and shape the firm’s structured literacy consulting practice. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in reading science with strong leadership, communication, and client engagement skills.
In this role you will:
- Design and oversee content and services grounded in the Science of Reading for use by clients across K–12 systems.
- Guide districts and states in adopting evidence-based instructional practices, curricula, and assessments.
- Provide authoritative expertise on reading development, structured literacy, and principles of cognitive science.
- Ensure all literacy consulting work reflects current research and best practices.
- Build trusted relationships with senior education leaders, offering strategic guidance and tailored solutions.
- Facilitate workshops, professional learning sessions, and executive briefings for client stakeholders.
- Represent the firm in national forums, conferences, and publications as a thought leader in literacy.
- Advocate for policies and practices that align with the Science of Reading and promote equitable literacy outcomes.
- Mentor internal consultants and project teams to deepen their literacy expertise and consulting capabilities.
- Develop tools, frameworks, and resources to support scalable literacy improvement efforts.
- Oversee the quality and rigor of deliverables, ensuring alignment with client goals and research-based standards.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with academic institutions, nonprofits, and research organizations.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and expansion of the firm’s literacy practice.
- Collaborate closely with current literacy team to understand an build upon history, context, and evolution of literacy client work.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Advanced degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) in Education, Literacy, Cognitive Science, or related field required.
- Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in literacy instruction, research, curriculum development, or educational leadership.
- Demonstrated expertise in the Science of Reading, including published research focused on literacy acquisition.
- Experience influencing policy or practice at the district, state, or national level.
- Proven track record of successfully leading large teams and complex projects.
- Deep understanding of K-12 literacy landscape, including policy, thought leaders, and market forces.
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, including experience presenting at large conferences.
- Experience working in or with consulting firms is a plus.
- Passion for educational equity and improving outcomes for all learners.
- Ability to translate complex research into actionable strategies.
- Collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous learning.

- Experience working and building relationships with clients and with external stakeholders.
- Ability to travel depending on client needs.
