Job Description

Position Overview:

The Executive Principal of Innovation & Achievement is a strategic leader responsible for driving academic excellence, innovation, and leadership development across KIPP Kansas City, with a focus on supporting and transforming turnaround schools. This role is essential in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, equity, and high achievement, collaborating closely with school leaders to implement innovative practices that empower all students to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to school principals especially within turnaround schools, to ensure alignment with KIPP KC’s mission and goals.

  • Collaborate with school leaders to design and implement initiatives that drive school improvement and student achievement.

  • Serve as a key member of the regional leadership team, contributing to organizational planning, decision-making, and long-term strategy.

Instructional Excellence:

  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative, data-driven instructional strategies tailored to support significant academic growth in turnaround schools.
  • Support the professional development of teachers and school leaders through coaching, mentoring, and providing actionable feedback.
  • Evaluate and implement cutting-edge educational technologies and instructional tools to enhance curriculum and student engagement.

School Improvement & Innovation:

  • Spearhead regional initiatives focused on closing the achievement gap and promoting educational equity.

  • Monitor academic performance data and collaborate with school leaders to implement interventions and strategies that improve student outcomes.

  • Lead efforts to integrate new, evidence-based practices into schools that foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Talent Development:

  • Mentor and develop current and aspiring school leaders to strengthen leadership pipelines across KIPP Kansas City.

  • Support recruitment, hiring, and retention of high-quality educators who are aligned with KIPP KC’s mission and values.

  • Partner with leadership teams to identify emerging leaders and create professional growth opportunities that build their capacity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (required) or relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field (preferred).
  • 7-10 years of experience in educational leadership, including experience as a school principal or in an instructional leadership role.
  • Proven track record of driving significant academic achievement gains, particularly within turnaround or high-need K-8 school settings.

  • Salary is based on years of experience, educational background, and level of expertise.
