KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools is part of the KIPP national network. Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose – college, career, and beyond – so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.

In the 2025-2026 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating more than 3,000 students, kindergarten through twelfth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida.

  • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade

  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade

  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade

  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 12th grade

In the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

  • K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm, K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 student dismissal is at 1:30pm

  • High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School student dismissal is at 12:30pm.

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
KIPP Jacksonville Schools seeks to add an In-School Suspension (ISS) Coordinator to add to the growing KIPP Bold City High School team. This role will help ensure the school community is invested in a vision of positive school culture. The ISSC supervises students in a classroom setting during typical school days to support students completing academic work, reflections, etc. when needed. The ISSC works with students across all grade levels in the school community and works closely with the Dean of Culture, teachers, counselors, and school administrators to do whatever it takes to ensure all students are able to learn in a safe, positive, and welcoming environment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Create a structured environment when students are referred to ISS
  • Help support behavior intervention plans for students, as needed, including documentation, de-escalating student behavior, family communication, staff check-in’s, etc.
  • Communicate with families about student progress
  • Support tracking referral data
  • If no students are in ISS, helping out in the school community as dictated by the school administration team

As a part of the school-based non-instructional team, this role is responsible for creating a restorative environment for all students, building relationships with our families, collaborating with their team and other duties as assigned. Full responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Leader. Typical hours for this role reflect the school’s operating hours. This role is a 10-month schedule but is paid year round.

*The salary offered in the DocuSign doesn’t include any stipends for which the candidate may be eligible. In our first year of paying out millage stipends, non-certified New-to-KIPP staff received an additional $3700. There are other opportunities to earn money at KIPP Jax in the form of additional stipends.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least one year in an urban education setting as a full-time professional with evidence of working with students in small groups or whole groups.
  • Associate’s degree or at least 60 hours of continuing education documented

  • Passing a background check, as required by law.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience with ISS
  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional in a high school setting
  • Bachelor’s degree
