Position Summary

Junior Achievement USA (JA USA) is seeking a Finance Associate to support the organization’s financial operations. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this role is responsible for accounts receivable, cash management, account reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The Finance Associate also collaborates with JA Area Offices to ensure financial compliance with JA USA policies and procedures.

The Finance Associate builds strong relationships with internal teams and JA Area Offices to support accurate financial reporting, operational excellence, and compliance with JA USA policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to grow while contributing to a high-performing Finance team committed to service, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Please note: this is a hybrid position. While the role is largely remote, candidates can expect to be in person at the Junior Achievement USA office in Colorado Springs, Colorado at least twice a week. If selected, training would also largely be conducted in person at the same office.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the accounts receivable process, including invoice receipt processing, reconciliation, delinquency tracking, and follow-up with JA Areas.
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts to support timely month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Partner with JA Area Offices to promote compliance with JA USA financial policies, procedures, and operating standards.
  • Respond to inquiries from JA Area Offices regarding invoices, account activity, financial processes, and operating procedures while providing timely, high-quality customer service.
  • Support calculation of JA Area Program and Support Fees.
  • Maintain finance-related resources and documentation on the JA intranet.
  • Provide additional accounting and operational support to the Finance team as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of fundamental accounting principles, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft systems, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems, technologies, and financial applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across teams and with JA Area Offices.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a willingness to contribute, support colleagues, and share knowledge.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and a desire to continuously learn, develop new skills, and take on increasing responsibility over time.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiencies, and enhance team effectiveness.

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience working for a non-profit organization.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP (non-profit accounting preferred).
  • Experience using Sage Intacct or similar cloud-based ERP systems for general ledger, accounts receivable, and financial reporting preferred.

Colorado Pay Range: $55,000 USD - $70,000 USD
