Who You Are:
You are a passionate educator committed to the success of every student. With a deep understanding of literacy instruction, you are skilled at using research-based reading strategies to support both students and teachers across Humanities content. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with educators and educational leaders to enhance literacy outcomes. Data-driven and results-oriented, you use assessments to identify student needs and implement targeted interventions.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop curriculum and assessments to align instruction across the network
- Coach and train teachers in humanities curriculum, ensuring effective instructional practices.
- Assess and analyze student humanities data to identify strengths and areas for growth, implementing appropriate instructional techniques.
- Model best practices in literacy instruction to support teacher development.
- Monitor and support teachers in analyzing data to track student progress.
- Collaborate with teachers, education directors, and principals to review student performance and refine literacy strategies.
- Deliver targeted literacy interventions to individual students and small groups using research-based strategies.

- Design and align curriculum and assessments across schools, ensuring coherence, rigor, and consistency in humanities instruction.

- Regularly monitor instructional practices and student progress, using feedback and reflection to strengthen teaching and learning across classrooms.
- Detail-Oriented
- Maintains a strong focus on the details of curriculum, assessment, and instructional implementation to ensure clarity, consistency, and high-quality execution.
- Clear Communicator
- Communicates expectations, feedback, and instructional priorities clearly and consistently to support alignment, collaboration, and shared goals across teams.
- Strategic Prioritization
- Demonstrates the ability to balance multiple priorities, manage multiple initiatives, and execute high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday: 7:40am - 4:00pm
- Valid New York State certification in Literacy, Reading, Social Studies (Grades 7-12) or TESOL
- Minimum of five years of literacy instruction
- Experience working with middle school or high school students
- Minimum of three years of experience teaching in an urban school setting
- Master’s degree in Literacy or Reading preferred
- Previous coaching or curriculum development experience preferred
- Background in the Science of Reading and structured literacy practices preferred

The Literacy Coach salary ranges from $125,000 – $135,000. Salaries are determined based on years of relevant experience, certification, and education level.
