The Great Oaks Legacy Charter School (GOLCS) is a high-performing, innovative charter public school in Newark NJ, serving students from Pre-K to 12th grade on campuses across the city of Newark. Our mission is to prepare Newark’s students for success in college and beyond.

The Director of Facilities at Great Oaks Legacy Charter School serves as a key member of the GOLCS network leadership team. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer, and works collaboratively with the Campus Operations teams.
Your responsibilities will include:

Serve as the primary point of contact for all small- to medium-scale facilities repairs, upgrades, and regular maintenance.
- Provide detailed, regular status reports of facilities projects across all campuses.
- Holding cross-functional teams accountable to construction or maintenance deliverables and timelines.
- Design, manage, and revise key facilities processes in a scalable format to support facilities. management and maintenance oversight.
- Document facilities procedures and preferred vendors across all campuses to ensure we have scalable practices that can be implemented and improved with 100% fidelity year over year.
- Maintain up-to-date building documentation and certifications, and coordinate required inspections.
- Hold Operations teams and outside vendors accountable to ensure all GOLCS facilities expectations are effectively implemented.
- Wear multiple hats as a part of a lean startup-up team, supporting the work of your direct report, the Lead Custodian, by taking on small projects and tasks as needed.
- Other additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director.
Qualifications

Broad knowledge of building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.) required, with at least 3 years of trade work experience preferred

Intermediate administrative skills with experience using Google Workspace and creating collaborative documents and reports

Experience coaching and developing junior staff members or direct reports

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Previous experience working in schools a plus

We offer a competitive and fair compensation package that increases based on years of relevant experience.
- The minimum base salary for this role is $110,000.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS
This Director of Facilities is a 12-month employee with salary to be recommended by the Chief Operating Officer for approval by the board.
