Location: Northern/Central California
This position requires regular in-person coaching at partner sites, typically involving 3–5 consecutive days of on-site work per trip regionally or nationally. In-person site visits are a core responsibility of this role and are not optional. When not traveling for site-based work, employees may complete responsibilities from a home office, as directed by their manager.

OPPORTUNITY
EL Education is seeking a Coach, Professional Development. The Coach, Professional Development role plays an integral part in meeting our goals with partners, impacting educator effectiveness, and improving student achievement through the implementation of the EL Education Core Practices and Design Principles. In this role, you will directly execute strategic and tactical support to districts and schools by supporting the implementation and success of our student-engaged assessment practices and nationally recognized K-8 Curriculum. You will report directly to the Partnership Director/Associate Director. This role is external facing, working with a portfolio of schools/districts, and also collaborates cross-functionally with EL Education coaches and portfolio Directors in order to best serve our partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Partnership Strategic Planning and Program Implementation (20%)
Understand district and school goals and outcomes and the roles and responsibilities of all involved, through positive and effective collaboration with partners
Provide professional development, full school model and/or curriculum implementation tools to school-based coaches and lead teachers, along with their associated building principals and colleagues
Develop creative, interactive experiences that model the engagement and practices expected in EL Education classrooms, both face-to-face and virtual.
Coaching School Leaders, Coaches and Teachers (45%)
Coordinate and manage professional learning and coaching schedules with school partners to maximize on-site time and fully support school leaders and teachers.
Provide thought-partnership and capacity building support to school leaders to ensure impactful professional learning and implementation of curriculum and full school model.
Building capacity in school-based coaches by coaching alongside them through calibration sessions, walkthroughs and feedback cycles, modeling lessons, and solving implementation dilemmas.
Plan and execute structures for successful adult learning: face-to-face professional development institutes in large group settings, virtual professional development (synchronous and asynchronous), and individual coaching sessions as needed.
Progress Monitoring and Support (30%)
Monitor progress through continuous improvement cycles grounded in EL Education’s 3 Dimensions of Student Achievement in schools by providing professional development grounded in our Core Practices and curriculum implementation tools
Ensure continuity in between on-site visits with follow up emails indicating next steps and proactive, frequent communication with school partners
Flexibly problem-solve issues related to professional learning grounded in our Core Practices and curriculum implementation tools.
Partnering with building leaders and leadership teams to monitor and adjust strategy to achieve goals.
Manage and maintain data and results: service delivery, instructional impact, and partner program satisfaction.
Support, celebrate, and report on achievements of district / school goals and milestones.
Maintain accurate records: documenting direct service and planning within Salesforce, utilizing expense management system, etc.
Be Crew (5%)
Collaborate with colleagues to solve problems of practice, create efficiencies, and commit to an organizational norm of continual improvement.
Partner with internal teammates and other stakeholders across the organization to support each others’ work and contribute to the broader success of EL Education
Model and represent the attitudes, practices and pedagogy of EL Education with partners and all internal and external stakeholders.

Skills, Experience & Expertise
Minimum 5 years of K-12 public school classroom experience required; school leadership experience preferred
K-8 literacy curriculum implementation strongly preferred
Instructional coaching experience strongly preferred
Familiarity with teaching or implementing EL Education ELA curriculum, EL Education Core Practices, Design Principles and 3 Dimensions of Student Achievement preferred
Master’s degree in education, educational leadership or related field preferred
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The starting salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000 annually. We offer a wide variety of benefits, including paid time off, 403b match, paid parental leave, medical/dental/vision insurance, and more.
