The Lagos Education Access Fund (LEAF) is an outcomes-based education program led by the Education Outcomes Fund (EOF) in partnership with the Lagos State Government. It aims to improve access to education and learning outcomes for out-of-school children by funding and scaling effective interventions delivered by implementing partners. Through its results-based financing model, LEAF ties funding to measurable outcomes—such as enrolling, retaining, and improving learning for children—while strengthening the overall effectiveness and accountability of the education system.
Position Description
Education Development Center (EDC) is seeking a Pedagogy Advisor to lead the design, coordination, and continuous improvement of in-school instructional interventions and catch-up programming under the LEAF program. The role ensures that pedagogical approaches effectively support out-of-school children (OOSC) transitioning into formal education, while strengthening teaching practices and learning outcomes at scale. The Advisor will work closely with government stakeholders, school leadership, and teachers, and collaborate with the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) Advisor and the broader learning team to ensure data-driven adaptation and sustainability of interventions.
The Pedagogy Advisor will:
- Develop and oversee in-school instructional interventions and catch-up programs to improve foundational learning outcomes.
- Work closely with government authorities, school leaders, and teachers to implement and strengthen effective teaching practices.
- Collaborate with the Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) Advisor to ensure smooth transition, integration, and retention of ALP learners into formal schools.
- Use learning data and classroom insights to continuously refine pedagogical approaches and improve program effectiveness.
- Monitor delivery in schools, support teacher coaching, and maintain consistency and fidelity of interventions.
- Work with learning, training, and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning teams to align content, teacher support, and program improvements.
Candidates shall have at a minimum the following qualifications:
Qualifications
Education:
- A minimum of Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
Skills and Experience:
- A minimum 7 years of experience in education program design and implementation.
- Demonstrated expertise in: Foundational literacy and numeracy and remedial / catch-up education or accelerated learning programs.
- Teacher training and instructional coaching experience is required.
- Experience working with government education systems in Lagos Nigeria is required.
- Proven track record of managing or advising large-scale education interventions.
