Originally founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, DREAM has grown to annually serve more than 2,500 youth across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of seven PreK-12, extended-day, extended-year DREAM Charter Schools and community sports-based youth development programs. Responsibilities

  • Hire Athletic Coaches and Enrichment Specialists;
  • Supervise up to 5 Enrichment Specialists, 6 Athletics Coaches, and 10+ high-school aged staff, including observations, real-time coaching, and performance evaluations;
  • Write and drive implementation of athletics curriculum for youth baseball, softball, and soccer;
  • Ensure all athletics and enrichment programming is meeting quality standards according to program quality observations conducted by program leadership;
  • Review and give feedback on Enrichment curriculum and lesson plans and ensure enrichment programming leads to a culminating event;
  • Model and encourage positive youth behaviors, high energy, joy in rigor, and skill building and promote DREAM’s mission, values and organizational policies to all staff, participants and volunteers;
  • Develop and execute trainings and professional development sessions for all staff both before and during the summer programs, provide staff with ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Attend and co-facilitate meetings with high school-aged staff (daily) and college-aged Youth Workers (1x/week);
  • Ensure all necessary materials are available or requested for use;
  • Ensure all activity spaces are safe and for implementing all DREAM safety guidelines;
  • Collaborate with the DSL to effectively integrate and continuously improve enrichment and athletics programming;
  • Responsible for the escalation and documentation of all incidents, emergencies, injuries, and the filing of incident reports;
  • Ensure all emergency protocols are carried out with fidelity;

Qualifications

  • BA preferred;
  • Experience managing providing feedback and coaching to young adults in an athletics and/or extended learning setting;
  • 2+ years experience working in youth development required (sports-based youth development preferred);
  • 2+ years experience in summer youth development or athletics program planning and implementation;
  • Ability to promote, model and uphold positive youth development principles;
  • Demonstrated strength with planning, logistics, managing inventory;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organization skills and attention to detail;
  • A leader that demonstrates the ability to manage and coach staff effectively in an extended learning and/or sports-based setting;
  • A leader with the desire to show initiative with the ability to problem solve effectively on their own as well as part of a team;
  • Experience modeling and training staff in lesson planning, facilitation, behavior management and de-escalation strategies with youth;
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), a plus;
  • A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.

Commitment

  • Start date: Immediate
  • End date: July 31, 2026
  • Days & hours - Summer: Monday: 8:00- 5:00PM; Tuesday - Thursday: 11:00 - 5:00PM
  • February-June: Approximately 1-4 hours per week, outside of school hours
  • June 22-26: Support with Summer Institute
  • Days and hours are subject to change.

  • This position will work at one of DREAM's ementary campuses:
  • Mott Haven: 20 Bruckner Boulevard, Bronx, NY

Compensation

  • DREAM offers competitive compensation. The hourly rate for this position is $55 per hour.
