Position Overview

The Instructional Coach will support the academic strategy and model that enables City Year sites to reach school and student outcome goals and consistently strive toward equity in the education system. Key outcomes for the Instructional Coach are: Create instructional learning experiences for AmeriCorps members (ACMs) and staff that build the skills and knowledge necessary to reach school and student outcome measures; Support and implement an inclusive & equitable academic strategy and model for the Tier One and Tier Two spaces that ensures we reach our student outcome measures in math and literacy; while incorporating our diversity, belonging, inclusivity and equity policy work; Serve as an active member of the CY community in order to advance the site and work toward the Long-Term Impact Strategy. Job Description

Qualifications:

In order to succeed in the Impact Coach role, a candidate must demonstrate proficiencies in the following areas:

Relationship Development

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with corps members, students, teachers, staff, and school leadership.

Talent Development

  • Coaching experience required.
  • Ability to observe behavior and provide constructive feedback.

Communication

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong group facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to break down large concepts into teachable bits that others can internalize easily.

Executes to Results

  • Strong attention to detail and proven organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage self and others.

Experience required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education (or related field) required, Master’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of teaching and/or instructional coaching experience (preferably in secondary math) OR Experience with adult learning (supervising student teachers, facilitating professional development or study groups at school or other organization)
  • Knowledge of general curriculum (literacy and math preferred) and assessments
  • Demonstrated success in differentiating instruction and improving student achievement
  • Knowledge of the Common Core Standards a must
  • Knowledge of standards-based assessments and instruction a must
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel
  • AmeriCorps/City Year alumni are encouraged to apply

Compensation

The anticipated start date is August 2025

This is a non-exempt full-time position with an hourly range of $27.85 to $28.85
