The Managing Director, Development will focus on establishing multi-year contributions, identifying new funding sources and management of current donors. The Managing Director, Development (MDD) will oversee a team that will be responsible for achieving the site’s fundraising goals including major gift solicitation, grant writing, event planning, as well as the site’s external communications and marketing efforts. The MDD will serve on the site leadership team, helping to drive and support site-wide initiatives and projects.Job Description
Fundraising Strategic Plan
In partnership with the Executive Director and Board, develop and implement a strategic and diversified fundraising plan that meets current goals and anticipates future needs and growth objectives.
Oversee strategies to identify and secure partnerships with corporations and foundations that reflect their marketing and business needs as well as philanthropic and community engagement goals
Oversee strategies to identify and secure new individual supporters, fully leverage existing relationships, increase multi-year commitments, and maintain or elevate current commitments
Work closely with site Executive Team to identify current and future funding needs and to position organization for success in short and long term.
Collaborate with HQ to develop multi-site regional and national sponsors
Identify training needs and encourage the use of available systems, structures and capabilities to meet strategic goals.
Submit a budget that allocates appropriate resources to accomplish goals.
Leader of Development Team
Manage, coach, and lead the team to meet their individual goals and provide support as needed
Train and lead other staff to support fundraising efforts and encourage professional development opportunities through local organizations and the national City Year network.
Promote cross-team collaboration in order to meet SOGs
Board Management
Support the Executive Director with the management and engagement of CYD's Board
Serve as the site point for board member needs
Manage Board meeting logistics and follow-up items
Lead Associate Board in supporting AmeriCorps members via professional development, mentorship, and in-kind gifts
Red Jacket Society
Prepare RJS-related reports
Create correspondence to RJS members
Plan and implement RJS cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation events
Order and manage distribution of red jackets
Participate in regular conference calls with HQ RJS team
Collaborate with the Board’s Development Subcommittee in the identification of new prospective RJS members
Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of experience successfully leading development teams to hit ambitious goals
Strong project management and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment
Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills along with a high level of diplomacy, discretion and problem solving ability
Proven success in developing collaborative relationships, and a successful track record of providing successful advice and counsel to senior leaders
Deep understanding of City Year’s mission and core values

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $95k-$110k per year.
