Position Summary
The Virtual Site Lead is a seasonal leadership role within CBED’s Freedom Schools Literacy Academy (FSLA), a five-week summer apprenticeship program designed to prepare high school and college-aged aspiring educators while providing high-quality literacy instruction and enrichment to elementary school scholars. Reporting to the Program Manager, FSLA, the Virtual Site Lead serves as the primary leader of virtual programming, ensuring program fidelity, strong instructional practice, and a positive experience for scholars, families, and staff.
The Virtual Site Lead provides operational and instructional leadership in a fully virtual environment, manages an intergenerational team, and serves as a key liaison to families. This role requires strong communication, coaching, and systems management skills to ensure high-quality implementation of the FSLA model in an online setting.
Core Accountabilities
- Virtual Program Operations & Fidelity
Oversee daily virtual program operations and systems to ensure consistent implementation of FSLA programming with fidelity.
- Instructional Leadership & Staff Supervision
Lead, coach, and supervise instructional staff to ensure high-quality literacy instruction and professional practice.
- Family & Scholar Engagement
Build strong, consistent relationships with scholars and families through clear communication, engagement, and support.
- Staff Development & Coaching
Support the professional growth and accountability of SLA Coaches and Servant Leader Apprentices through coaching and feedback.
- Equity-Centered, Student-Focused Leadership
Ensure all virtual programming reflects CBED’s commitment to racial equity, justice, and culturally responsive practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily virtual program operations, including arrival procedures, attendance tracking, instructional blocks, and dismissal.
- Manage staff and scholar attendance in virtual platforms and implement strategies to promote strong participation and engagement.
- Plan, lead, and execute virtual family engagement activities, including the development and distribution of a weekly family newsletter.
- Serve as the primary communication liaison for families, ensuring timely and clear updates.
- Manage virtual learning platforms and tools that support scholar learning and engagement.
- Provide academic and behavioral support to scholars in partnership with instructional staff and families.
- Identifyoperational and instructional challenges in the virtual environment and support responsive improvement efforts.
- Lead and facilitate virtual site team meetings to ensure alignment, communication, and accountability.
- Supervise and coach approximately one SLA Coach, including leading weekly virtual one-on-one meetings.
- Ensure curriculum implementation and timely submission of instructional deliverables, including lesson plans, observations, surveys, and coaching documentation.
- Collaborate with instructional coaches to support Servant Leader Apprentices in fulfilling their roles with professionalism and effectiveness.
- Model and enforce high standards of professionalism, instructional quality, and accountability in virtual spaces.
- Participate in required training and preparation activities in advance of and during the summer program.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience resulting in strong student outcomes.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience coaching or mentoring educators.
- Experience working in virtual instructional environments preferred.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams, and data tracking systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with intergenerational and multicultural teams.
- Demonstrated ability to give and receive clear, affirming, and constructive feedback.
- Strong reflective practice with attention to both actions and outcomes.
- Results-oriented, adaptable, and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
