What You Will Do:

The Payroll Accountant will oversee and supervise the organization's payroll functions, ensuring that pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations and Bottom Line’s established Internal Controls. The Payroll Accountant will also oversee all payroll-associated filings in states where Bottom Line employs staff members to ensure full compliance with reporting agencies and related unemployment regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Processes the organization’s biweekly payroll, ensuring accurate and timely delivery to staff.
  • Maintains documentation and processes updates for all payroll paydata and related payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions in collaboration with Human Resources’ Benefits Manager.
  • Posts all Payroll Transactions to the GL; including accrual entries and fringe liabilities.
  • Reconciles Payroll/Fringe related accounts on a quarterly basis.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Participates in the technical onboarding of staff as it relates to using the Time sheet and Payroll modules within Bottom Line’s payroll system.
  • Partners with HR team to ensure staff follow hourly work and overtime regulations as well as BL’s established protocols, designed to align with these regulations
  • Manages inquiries related to unemployment reporting and processing for all states where Bottom Line employs staff members
  • Reviews the work of BL’s Third Party Adminstrator (ADP) ensuring that vendor performance is adequate and compliant.
  • Supports the annual 403b and Financial statement audits;
  • Leads review and clean up of current paydata from prior years, in collaboration with other members of the HR and Finance teams and the Vendor
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures.
  • Sets up/registers the organization with relevant tax agencies.

Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without advanced notice.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 9 - 5 or 10 - 6 (local time), and flexibility may be requested. Additional hours as needed.

Expected Travel:

Approximately 3 times a year for team meetings and organizational events

Who Should Apply:

If you meet the qualifications below, you should apply.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or related field required.
  • At least three to five years of related experience required. Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, including preparation, reconciliations, internal controls, and payroll tax regulations
  • Proficient with payroll software. Bottom Line uses ADP Workforce Now; knowledge of/experience with any ADP platform is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of US GAAP reporting standards.
  • GL Accounting understanding and experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
