What You Will Do:

As the Manager of Donor Experience, you will be a driving force behind maintaining engagement with our fundraising-related stakeholder groups, including our related stakeholder groups including our: Regional Advisory board, donors, partners, volunteers, students, and the community-at-large. You will help support our mission by managing fundraising and events to help secure vital funding goals. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, your direct support will be instrumental in fostering enduring donor relationships, executing comprehensive fundraising campaigns, and finding unique ways to engage volunteers. The ideal candidate will possess experience in event planning, exceptional communication skills, customer-service relationship management systems experience, and a proven track record in maintaining stakeholder engagement.

This role's significance will increase as our regional presence grows. Given that we are establishing ourselves in a new site, the Manager of Donor Experience’s responsibilities will adapt to match the evolving landscape in Detroit. Currently, there is a Fund Development Consultant that this team member will work very closely with to fulfill the organization’s fundraising goals. The successful candidate will be excited to build and manage the systems to support a robust community of champions to bring critical College Access and Success support to students in the Detroit community.

Primary Responsibilities:

Donor Cultivation Events:

  • Support the planning and execution of all revenue-generating events (working closely with the development team, Regional Advisory Board, Fundraising Consultant, and Executive Director). Responsibilities include:
    1. Oversee internal event coordination, manage Progress to Revenue Goal reporting for the event, guest engagement, and other critical metrics.
    2. Execute a series of cultivation events, including volunteer opportunities and donor acquisition events.
    3. Build and manage online fundraising campaigns using Bottom Line’s preferred technology platforms (currently Classy) in collaboration with the development team to support overall regional fundraising efforts.
    4. Create and incorporate campaign and event-specific communications strategies into social media plan.

Stakeholder Strategy and Planning:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and full team to develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy, which ties in to fundraising, and community engagement goals.
  • Create and manage a fundraising and communications plan, including timelines, targets, and key performance indicators.

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship:

  • Create and graphic design fundraising and marketing materials for events, both digital and paper.
  • Manage social media content creation and uploads.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to manage communication and events with the Regional Advisory Board.
  • Help execute personalized cultivation strategies provided by the ED and Fund Development Consultant to engage and retain donors, ensuring a high level of donor satisfaction.
  • Oversee the donor, student, and partner acknowledgement process, including personalized thank-you letters, recognition events, and regular updates on organizational impact.
  • Represent Bottom Line at relevant events and engage in public issues that help increase visibility around Bottom Line's mission.

Donation Management:

  • Work closely with the national finance and regional development teams to ensure all donations are accurately recorded.
  • Collaborate with development team to track gifts allocated to the Detroit region, ensuring that portfolio managers properly record donations and generate appropriate stewardship touch points.
  • Research new donor and funder prospects as needed.
  • Manage the grant reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate submission of all required documentation.

Other:

  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director related to stakeholder engagement, donor cultivation, reporting, and collaboration with DevOps.
  • Support special projects related to student engagement and recruitment with an interface and focus on fundraising.

Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without advanced notice.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday 9 - 5 or 10 - 6 (local time), and flexibility may be requested; Additional hours as needed. This is a work from home position with in-person time required for events and designated team meetings.

Expected Travel:

Frequent travel across region, limited travel outside of the region (1-2 trips to other regions throughout the year)

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of external relations experience, with a track record of successfully engaging the community around mission-driven projects
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, especially in attracting new stakeholders
  • Polished and authentic presence, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and a customer service orientation
  • Excellent organizational skills, with experience working in data-driven and process-driven organizations
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to Bottom Line’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values

Preferred:

  • Experience using Salesforce or a similar platform preferred
  • Familiarity with regional educational and nonprofit landscape a plus
