About the Role:

Achievement First is seeking a strategic, impactful Founding Director of School Operations for Achievement First Envision Middle School. Reporting to the Principal and Regional Director of Operations, this leader will be responsible for all non-instructional functions, ensuring operational excellence to support student success. This foundational role involves building systems, developing teams, and fostering an environment of high standards and continuous improvement.

The salary range for this position is $97,167- $126,781, commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities & Competencies:

  • Operational Excellence:
    • Set and uphold high standards for safety, compliance, efficiency, and risk management.
    • Manage toward measurable outcomes, anticipate challenges, and implement proactive solutions.
  • Strategic Planning & Prioritization:
    • Develop and execute short-term and long-term operational plans aligned with school and network goals.
    • Use data effectively to inform decisions and adapt strategies amidst changing circumstances.
  • Team Management & Culture:
    • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing operations team.
    • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and accountability that supports a positive staff environment.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Influence:
    • Build trusting, credible relationships with principals, families, community partners, and network stakeholders.
    • Manage and influence across levels to facilitate collaboration and shared goals.
  • Leadership & Personal Qualities:
    • Demonstrate warmth combined with a high-demand, results-oriented approach.
    • Embody commitment to racial equity, self-awareness, social awareness, and ethical communication.
    • Show resilience, humility, humor, and a “whatever it takes” attitude.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred.
  • At least 3 years of operations management experience in entrepreneurial or fast-paced environments, preferably in education or nonprofits.
  • Proven success in building systems, leading cross-functional teams, managing budgets, and stakeholder engagement.

Compensation & Benefits:

Candidates will be offered a salary within the $97,167- $126,781 range, reflecting experience and qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with a match, and paid family leave.
