TNTP seeks a Part-Time Effectiveness Coach to work up to 25 hours a week, supporting teachNOLA, a TNTP Teaching Fellows program. This position is based in-person in New Orleans, LA.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Part-time teachNOLA Effectiveness Coach, you will play a critical role in TNTP's teacher development initiatives and program by coaching program participants and supporting their development towards licensure. You will be responsible for the performance of the teachers in your caseload, developing teachers to reach their full potential, through a variety of mediums.

Here are some examples of what a Part-time teachNOLA Effectiveness Coach might do:

  • Support a cohort of teachers, in varying grade levels and content areas, in schools across the Greater New Orleans area, utilizing both in-person and virtual support.

  • Use research-based, differentiated coaching practices to support teacher development through consistent coaching cycles

  • Maintain data collection systems to ensure real-time updates, allowing teacher development to remain responsive and aligned to goals.

  • Conduct formal classroom observations and comprehensive observation reports for teachers outside of your dedicated coaching cohort as part of our Assessment of Classroom Effectiveness evaluation system.

  • Thought partner with other teachNOLA staff to design, create and lead professional learning sessions

  • Communicate effectively with teachers, their school leaders, school-based coaches, and other program staff providing timely reminders, updates, and support as needed.

WHAT YOU BRING

We expect our Part-time Effectiveness Coach to:

  • Have experience in New Orleans public schools. You have at least five years of teaching and school leadership experience with a proven track record of raising student achievement. You have strong familiarity and expertise with the LA State Standards, various high-quality instructional materials, and hold – or have held - a valid teaching certificate.

  • Have experience developing teachers as a school leader or instructional coach. You support teachers in-person, in their classrooms across New Orleans. You collect, track and analyze teacher data, but it’s what you do with it that really has an impact. Based on your data analysis and what you see in the classroom, you identify new approaches to improve teacher performance under a quick timeline.

  • Have stage presence. We’re counting on your strong facilitation skills and ability to expertly lead teacher professional development.

  • Be comfortable with the unknown. Ambiguity doesn’t scare you; just the opposite, you thrive on it. You are flexible and comfortable adapting your work to maximize your impact on students, the teachers you coach and your team.

  • Be a constant learner. A commitment to constant learning and improvement, in both your own work and the work of others. You thrive on feedback and implement it quickly to continually improve your practice

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal awareness and adaptability across a variety of settings. You engage in authentic self-reflection and show high emotional intelligence, using these skills to support the growth of the teachers on your caseload. You have a deep understanding of yourself and use that insight to build trust and strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

  • Build relationships. You have an ability to connect and build relationships with others in service of teacher growth and development.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a teacher and school leader in a New Orleans Public School with a strong understanding of high-quality instructional materials, research-based instructional strategies, and managing adults to meet their goals.

  • Hold – or have recently held –a valid Louisiana teaching certificate in a high-needs area. Ability to actively coach and facilitate the growth and development of teachers with a range of experience and expertise. Facilitation skills and experience engaging adult learners across settings.

  • Ability to build relationships and create a supportive learning environment.

  • Comfortable with the Microsoft and Google suites, various learning platforms, and providing troubleshooting support.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

WHAT WE OFFER
TNTP offers a competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience in a similar position. The pay range for this position is $32.53 - $48.79 per hour.
